I'm sorry for the delay in responding.
We cannot guarantee that the project would have no impact on the environment, and we realise for many in the community, this is not good enough. The Victorian Government has required us to undergo an Environment Effects Statement to assess the potential effects of the project on the environment and assess alternatives to avoid and mitigate effects.
If the potential impacts cannot be acceptably addressed the project would not go ahead.
Thank you for your reply @ElissaM I am a concerned resident who unfortunately has not had an extensive education so I am finding it difficult to understand things if not put in simple layman's terms . So could you please give me an example of a potential impact on this site and how AGL would acceptably address it?
We’d just like to apologise for the delay in addressing your enquiry – we have received a large number of complex and detailed questions that we need to discuss with a few specialists.
This is not the way we want to deal with community concerns and we’re working to be more responsive in the future.
We’ll respond to your question shortly.
There are a number of impacts to the Western Port Ramsar wetlands as a result of the project. We are currently investigating mitigation options in order to either avoid, reduce or manage impacts appropriately.
For example, the pipeline works intercepts with two areas of inland Ramsar wetlands (Warringine Park and Watson Creek). In order to avoid impacts to this sensitive environment, we are proposing to use a Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) technique to lay the pipeline under the two sites.

I noticed in your reply that you leave details out that are part of the question and deflect the answer to give the impression you are answering it. The Ramsar site north of the Terminal will be affected due to tidal movements, regardless of the incorrect data of 200m is the only affected areas the tide flow will take contaminated super chilled water into the Ramsar site and that is part of the question asked.
We have sent your queries to the independent experts conducting the environmental assessment for the EES. We hope to have an answer for you soon.
Please be aware that we have registered your response and will be in touch soon.
