Transfer account name / change plan


In SA and currently on the Standard Energy Plan.
Both my parents died nearly 5 years ago and I took over the house.
At the time I tried contacting AGL to change the name on the account, never did get the call backs they promised via the chat line, so i just left the account in his name and have kept paying the bills as normal.
I tried ringing this afternoon, spent 1/2hr trying to find the right dept, stupid automated system, it wont let me pass without a date of birth check entered via the key pad, tried his dob, mine, phone number etc, but no go.
I have now installed solar on the house and I wish to change plans.
Is there a step by step guide on how to achieve this?
Am I a classed new customer or existing?

Will the change over be straight away?
Is there a disconnection/connection fees that need to be paid?
What else has to be changed?
The meter box has had a smart meter installed many years ago and is working fine with the solar exports.
