Sigenergy VPP Plan Initial Mode

I have recently had a Sigenergy battery and panels installed and yesterday signed up to the AGL VPP plan which had placed the battery into a VPP scheduling Evergen mode. I understand this is part of onboarding the VPP system. Currently on a very sunny day the battery is fully charged and now the solar system is only producing about 1kwh to match our household consumption rather the the excess kWh which would normally be produced and discharged to the grid. Is this normal during the onboarding of the VPP?

Not sure things would be set up that quickly, after getting solar on it seemed like a week or so while the final DNSP / AGL things happened to correlate systems.

I would have thought when not under VPP control for exporting during demand times, you would be exporting at whatever pitiful FIT is offered there (here in SA it's 1c), but the VPP might also curtail your export in solar soak when there is excess grid feed in.

Hopefully an AGL rep will confirm here, but may have to call them and get onto their solar / battery dept people to get a full picture on you actual site status.

In this case a larger battery or something more to soak up that wasted production would have been good.

Our Sig battery goes in 2 weeks tomorrow, looking forward to checking out numerous more options with the spare capacity.

What you're seeing is normal when your battery is operating in AGL's VPP. In this mode, the system manages your battery as part of the Virtual Power Plant program.

If you'd prefer to export excess solar energy while still remaining part of the VPP, we can help set up a Custom Mode for your system. Simply send an email to BatterySupport@agl.com.au, and our team will be happy to discuss the available options and assist with the setup.

Regarding the lower solar production you're seeing, we're unable to confirm whether that's related to your VPP onboarding. We'd recommend reaching out to your installer, as they'll be best placed to check your solar system configuration and investigate why generation appears to be lower than expected.

Thanks for your reply. I am still in the VPP scheduling mode and from reading other posts in this forum the battery should be returned to the normal consumption mode once the onboarding is complete until an actual VPP event occurs. I saw that I could email the VPP team to organise a regular battery discharge time but would rather be able to set those times through the Sigenergy App. Have tried to call the assistance line and left a message so hopefully will know more when I receive a call back.

Thanks for your reply. At the moment, your battery won't automatically switch back from VPP Scheduling Mode once onboarding is complete.

If you'd prefer to have more control over when your battery discharges and exports, we can set up a custom mode that allows you to remain in the VPP while managing your battery more flexibly. This isn't enabled automatically and needs to be requested through our team.
