When paying your account online why don't you break up the credit card number into 4 separate groups so that it is quicker to check you have entered the correct numbers, thus ensuring less mistakes. eg 1234 5678 9123 4567.

Many companies have adopted this format and it would be appreciated if AGL did the same..

Hi JH, We've recently updated a similar field to accept spaces, to enable cut and pasting from PDF bills that make use of the more human readable formatting (with spaces), so could see the upside of the same for this field.

I will lodge a card with the team who manage this experience, so that they can investigate making a change. Am I right in thinking that you are referring to the "make a payment" page on the general site - https://www.agl.com.au/help-support/billing-payments/pay-your-bill and not the My Account experience?

Also, I think I am guilty of assuming that customers would prefer to use the My Account service to pay bills (you can save payment methods and, I believe - haven't acid tested - that the CC number field there accepts spaces currently). What is it about the non logged in version that makes it preferential to you, if you don't mind sharing?

Hi,
I did not know if you could leave a space after every 4 digits with a 16 digit card number, when filling in the card number either on my web account or if paying via “make a payment “.
Other companies often use a defined space for each digit which means it is easy to see if you have made a mistake when inputting your card number.
I tend to use my account on the web as it gives me more information .

That’s a good suggestion. Splitting the card number into groups (like 4 digits) definitely improves readability and helps reduce input errors. Many payment forms already follow this approach, so it would be a nice usability improvement if AGL adopted it too.
