Just off the phone to AGL & am not liking the sound of this at all:

Firstly, received AGL email say that apparently we’re not using VOiP. WRONG. We have a 96 year old who does & this is the only way for her to communicate with the outside prod: Aged Care, Doctor’s appts, Dentist, 000 etc.

Not liking the sound of this & the drama it may bring: It took weeks and weeks to have the home phone connected the first time around, and after may many phone calls & emails to AGL, we only had the problem resolved by asking our local MP to step in.

Second thing is that AGL is sending me some black box to attach to the modem and configure. The I have to call again, go through a bizzilion direction messages, wait on hold yet again. Not looking forward to to that rubbish again.

Third: apparently many are having issues with the bundle discounts not being applied for exiting AGL electricity with home, mobile and internet plan. More on’ hold calls to AGL to fix?

Fourth: one of our mobiles is eSIM only. Shall be interested to see if AGL gets that work as well.

In all, sounds Iike a lot of work for the customer, really. We shall see when we get there, but my well be time to switch to another energy & comms provider if this is the lack of service we’ll get?

I see that we’re being told that our Internet and phones will be automatically changed over from Optus to Aussie Broadband this July. Sounds reasonable on the face of it given Optus is pretty poor.

HOWEVER: What happens to our phones that use eSIMS?

Aussie Broadband still does not support eSIMs AFAIK.

Therefore the only options would appear to be I) need to buy a new phone or 2) change providers.

We also have VOIP landline for an elderly person which has been unreliable & poorly supported in the past. Also concerned about this transition as well.

Hi @profdraper

Thank you for your post.

I have confirmed that you will not need to worry, any AGL customer that are migrated over will be supported. It does not matter that you have an eSIM, you'll still be supported.

Thank you, Chris
