I need to upgrade my main electrical switchboard (still has ceramic fuses etc). I also have to upgrade my consumer mains from 6mm to 16mm. The electrician also quoted me for changing the old electric meter to a new smart meter. He said Ausgrid regulations are once there is a new electric panel, he has to change the meter to a new one as well. Is that true? and if so, can I get AGL to install the new smart meter free, rather than pay the electrician to do it? Thanks.
