Hi @Paul49

We used to have our HWS on CL too, even after solar put on for about 12 months (we since changed this).

Where as previous to solar on old analogue meters, we had J tariff timed for off peak which was close to midnight to around 0600 (might have been 2330 - 0530), as this was the cheapest rate then for analogue metering.

After the switch, our CL meter with just the HWS on it, was coming on 1000 - 1500, as this is the TOU period that is cheaper than the old off peak early morn.

So yes, it seems AGL as the retailer and / or your supplier sets this for shoulder, which is cheaper due to solar soak hours.

On my app my usage increases a fair bit at 10 am every day even though the only thing that could do that would be the hot water service. Now, if the hws has it's own smart meter and I assume that it is set for off-peak times, how can it kick in (conveniently I might add) at 10 am, the start of the cheaper shoulder period?

Cheers,

Paul.

Thanks for your response Lester. It seems to clear up that subject to a certain extent.
