Best way to use split system air con

I have a new split system air conditioning system and have conflicting info on how to run it efficienctly.

1/ Run on 24 deg and leave it on all the time only turn off once a week to air the house?

2/ OR use as required. Turn on and off as needed.

Can you please advise.
