Hi
The issue with the bill has been resolved.
The actual reading was wrong, but I had been credited on the bill previous to the one which I thought was too high.
It was very confusing but the complaints officer was a great help.

Regards

Sent from my iPhone

After reading some posts about end read and start read discrepancies I looked back the electricity bill that I received last year, which was much, much higher than any previous bills. Now I know why … the end read on 9/8/23 was 73,378 (taken by myself) and the start read for the next bill done on 11/8/23 (an actual read done by AGL) was 73,125.
in effect I paid twice for 253 units!

I expect that I will just have to put this down to experience. I do not expect any help from AGL.

Did you submit your end read 9/8/23 ?

Did AGL get an actual read for the period too, or (I'm guessing here) was it possibly an estimated read ?

If an incorrect reading is taken in a period, either manual meter read was wrong, or an over / under estimated read was given by AGL, then the next period it will balance out when a new read is done, either by the contractor doing the manual read, or you submitting a read.

I've had situations at my workshop, where access is often restricted due to a placid dog, or locked gate, where all the tennants there have had estimated reads for 3 quarters in a row !

If it was too far out of actual reads, I would contact AGL and get an adjustment.

If your read was used on the bill, then the new period read WAS 253hwh less, then yes, it seems to be an overcharge.

Maybe they will address it if brought to their attention.
