High gas usage

I turned everything off, took a photo of my gas meter and left the house. 30 minutes later, came back, took another photo and noticed the red numbers had increased. Does that mean the meter has picked up gas usage?

Yes it does.

It could mean a leak....

OR it could mean you have a gas storage heater and it was still bringing up the water to the correct temp..

Do I call the energy provider to check if there’s a gas leak, would it be from the metre?
