You can change back fairly easily @dkk . . . you might have already.

I know, you shouldn't have to, it should be offered, and if anyone wants to go monthly then they can opt in.

It is what it is, as you say the cashflow improvement would be great for AGL, and likely they might have fewer difficult larger bills to collect when things do go to recovery.

For what it's worth, this has happened to me a few times in recent years, I just change back as I prefer paying 4 bills a year rather than 12.

If you need some guidance to change back . . .

Website account online . . .

Go to Billing tab

Click ALL PAYMENT OPTIONS in the payment options window

Click bill frequency monthly

Click edit

Click to change to (stay on) quarterly.

Phone app . . .

Go to account tab at bottom right of screen, click settings

Under billing and payments, click monthly billing

Click relative account, and change back to quarterly

It is obvious that the change to monthly billing from 3 monthly is to increase profitability of AGL. Revenue would flow to AGL sooner and with more frequent bills, there would be a greater number of late payment fees being collected. The change is not for the benefit of customers as AGL implies. Very sneaky AGL.

@dkk

I think you are a bit confused about monthly billing.

It has it's advantages over quarterly especially if you are fiscally challenged.

With monthly you get a bill once a month and have the ability then, to pay that bill, where with quarterly you get a bill that may exceed your payment abilities.

With either billing, looking at your usage charges will give a good idea of your expected bill and allow you to accumulate the necessary funds to pay your bill.

At the moment I have to pay $40 per fortnight to keep up with our Electricity usage due to the climate in SA at the moment.

I just downloaded my data and the calculation is $196.44 for the 74 days into our quarterly bill or $2.66 per day.

This will give us a result of $2.66 * 90 or $240 for the quarter.

My usage page shows $120 at the present time for electrical usage add the $76 for Supply and that gives a figure of $196 basically the same as my calculation.

So with a good fiscal policy anyone can manage their bill using either quarterly or monthly billing.
