ABC are reporting 3.2% increase to SA power supply from 1st July 2025.

My increases range from 8.7% for supply and up to 18.9% for electricity.

Has the ABC got it that wrong or has AGL ignored the regulator and raised prices as they see fit?

First posted in May when the AER released new market offer pricing for retailers.

My email came Wednesday, important tariffs all rising for me, peak TOU + 15% and daily supply charge up 14%.

Yeah, not a nice thing when expecting around 3.2%.

What region are you in with slightly different increases ?

Remember that the increases quoted in the media apply to the default rates. The package you are on can vary, and probably will. The default rates are what the various packages are compared with.

This is probably a good time to look for a package that suits the way you consume energy.

In my case I do this by entering the various offerings into a spreadsheet then calculate the cost from my historic usage. This shows that in my connection the FiT and Daily Charges are the most important aspects as I supply a LOT more power than I consume. Yours may be different.

Since my previous reply, I have now been informed of the new rates which will apply to my account.

The cost per kWH has actually fallen marginally. This has very little effect on my bills as I buy very little, and most of it is in the off peak range. (26kWh in Peak and Shoulder, 115kWH in off-peak for a quarter)

The Daily charge has increased and the Feed In Tarriff has decreased. This is where things change. The FiT was able to offset the Daily Fee and consumption. Now that will not be the case.

Could not find my old comparison spreadsheet, so I wrote a new one. The AGL account I am on is the best they have but other suppliers are now a bit cheaper. Ironically the other suppliers offer incentives to change, as does AGL, but none seem to offer loyalty fees for not changing.

I am now weighing up if I should shift or not.

My shoulder was the one tariff (that I get on the bill rarely) that fell, down by 10% . . . but I don't use should here (1000-1500) as my solar covers all that normally, with exception to some peaks on the gloomy full dark cloud / rainy days.
