Over due charge is double

I was late to pay my bill by one day, now the overdue charge is the same price as the bill. Now my bill is double the original price. How do I resolve this? Is it possible to reduce the overdue charge as I was not aware it would be so much.

My bill went from $70.37 to $140.74 - which is an excessive amount.

If a late payment fee has been applied to your account, this should not have doubled the original charges. Is the overdue charge always equal to the original bill amount, regardless of how late the payment is?
