My FIT for solar with AGL has just dropped 33.33%, from 6c to 4c , so thought as I haven't checked energymadeeasy.gov.au for a nearly a year, I would just head off there for a look.

You can compare electricity and gas with retailers in your particular area, and since my last visits nearly a year ago the site is easy if you have a smart meter and at least one full year of data . . . you just put your meter NMI number in and the supplier data is uploaded to compare exactly what you use.

I only have 11 months of data, so have to put in the kwh off a recent bill to compare.

In the past, I found that here in SA there are quite a lot of retailers, but when you look at the nitty gritty of plans, tariffs, and supply charge, there is really very little competition / savings, and you know the saying, better the devil you know.

As such, I have been with AGL exclusively for over 40 years now.

Anyway, I only have electricity and there are 5 plans with supposedly better value than AGL in the pricing comparo, out of 21 various offers that came up.

One thing I noticed is there are 4 offers where the FIT for solar exports is zero, and 7 offers where the FIT is under 2c, most of the rest are around 4c - 4.5c, with a spattering of a few offering more, but generally a lot higher daily supply charge and / or rates.

These higher FIT plans might suit someone when they have suitable solar and a battery and can virtually have nil usage with a lot of exports.

The difference between to lowest price offer and AGLs is $150 a year, but the 'best value' offer is one of the zero FIT offers, and we export over 80% of our power consistently, while still self consuming average 80% of our usage, so that would not be worth a change.

So anyone keen on checking their local options, and this is also comparing AGL offers, then it's worth a look for peace of mind that you are at least on the best deal you can be . . .

Energy is like insurances now, you are possibly throwing $ away if you don't compare occasionally, or at renewal time.

My solar FIT with AGL dropped from 6c to 4c, so I checked **Removed Link** for better options. Although many plans offered zero or low FIT rates, few provided significant savings after considering tariffs and charges. The best alternative to AGL only saved $150 annually, so I decided to stay with AGL for now. It's worth checking your local options to ensure you're getting the best deal.
