Calls from AGL

I keep getting calls from a Melbourne number, which I have been ignoring.

When I did answer, I got a guy with a heavy accent (hard to understand), telling me that he was from AGL and that they were offering better rates than I was currently paying. He did know my account number, but the rate information he was quoting did not seem correct.

I asked him, "If AGL wants to lower the rate, why not just do that? Why do we need to go through this?" No real answer to that.

Does anyone know if this is legit?

This could be legit, there was a thread (woken up) about this a week or so ago, Victorian 03 number, turns out it was AGL.

Was originally about a problem with an account, but seems to vary in what calls are about.

Scammers and Cheap Call Centres are hard to differentiate.

I suggest asking for the details oft the offer and his name and/or ID.

Then ring back on the AGL number to confirm the details.

That should get to the truth.
