this should have centrepay through Centrelink to make it easier to never miss a payment

You can already set up Centrepay for your AGL bills

https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/individuals/services/centrelink/centrepay/how-use-it/set-deductions

You use your MyGov account or Centrelink Express Plus app to set it up, or contact Centrelink.

It is set up at Centrelink end rather than the AGL end.
