topic Tenants and meter reads in Energy Accounts & Plans

We had tenants move into our rental unit yesterday. The unit uses a smart meter. I was told the electricity doesn’t get turned off, we have to wait for the tenants to register an account for that address . My question is, how do I know they’re not using our account/electricity.? I just checked my app and it says that the day they moved was the day that recorded the highest usage! We weren’t there! Any ideas?

Hi Bluey,

Thanks for getting in touch!

If you're concerned about your tenant using power in your name, then the simplest way to resolve is to close your account. However, to your point, this may result in an interruption to their power supply! I recommend that you log into your AGL My Account (aglener.gy/MyAccount) and touch base with our customer service team via instant messenger to clarify the status of your account.

Kind regards,

Jayden
