Thanks for that,OVO NSW is offering EV plan and 3 for free as well as 8c kilowatt 0-6am every thing else the same as AGL so I probably need to have a discussion with AGL to see if it's worth changing, thanks again for the info

Hi all,

Just wondering if AGL will consider charging EV during solar hours at 8c a kilowatt,(10-2pm would be good)as there is an abundance of solar and usually in those hours I only use about 40c from the grid as solar powers my unit .

At the moment I'm on 0-6am 8c a kilowatt

That'd be a nice addition to the EV Night Saver plan, but hard to imagine a company giving 2 shots at the 8c.

Charging at night for most would be the better plan, as the majority would likely be commuting.

But yeah, solar soak power retailers and DNSPs would have to like ditching some excess solar, especially in Summer and shoulder months.

..

Yes 51% OVO was bought by AGL sometime in 2021, and fully bought out in 2024 . . .

I cannot find any OVO offer for SA that has both 3 free ours 1100-1400, and any early morning low charging rate.

That's not to say your region doesn't offer it, as all states and even regions within states with different DSPNs can have vastly different daily supply charges and tariffs.

You just have to punch in the various windows there Usage, Green power %, Payment type, and EV yes (or no) and see what's on offer.

If you tell me your parameters used, I'll let you know what OVO SA offers, but I can see straight up their daily supply charge is 37c more per day, and their peak usage tariff is $1.47, nearly 2.8x what AGL peak is here for me now.

It's all got to be compared, including if you have a home battery and can shift battery to run the home during peak and avoid the huge costs there if you use any, especially in winter.
