This means you won't see a start or end read on your bill. Instead, the total amount of your electricity usage is shown.

Meter read entry is available on my logged in account (on both the website and app) for my workshop with still old analogue meter.

When viewing the home account it's different as we recently installed solar . . . a new smart meter was installed by our network provider (for AGL), and that is different as Neil said above.

No option (or need) to enter anything with a smart meter.

Hi @Cat868

Thanks for reaching out — I understand how frustrating this situation can be.

If the body corporate isn't providing access to the meter, and you do have access yourself, you're welcome to submit your own meter read through the app.

We’ve found that many apartment residents experience similar issues with meter access, so you're definitely not alone in this. Submitting your own read is a great way to make sure your billing stays accurate.

If you need help with how to submit the read, I’m more than happy to guide you through it.

As we don't take reads from the meter but the distributor. Even changing the plan would not make any difference.

Thanks Lester

I check every bill ...always estimated.

I have called a couple of times and AGL say they will put me on the list to be read but never happened. I am concerned that when I move i get a huge bill.

A friend said to contact the ombudsman so I might get advice from them.

Thanks for your comments.

Ok, cheers @Cat868 sounds like it's a long term issue, and needs to be sorted out finally.

I think your strata management needs to be brought into check on this policy of no allowing access to at least service contractors, such as meter readers.

From google AI to > strata management and rules for allowing meter reading . . .

"In Australia, strata property owners and occupiers are responsible for ensuring their meters are accessible to utility companies for reading, maintenance, and testing.

This involves maintaining clear paths to the meters and resolving any obstructions.

If meters are not accessible, retailers may issue estimated bills, which can be adjusted later.

Owners can also provide their own meter readings (self-reads) by contacting their retailer, or by arranging for a master key to be made available for utility locks on gates or meter boxes."

Hopefully you will find your bills are not underestimated . . . in the vast majority of cases, AGL's estimates are usually on the high side, so who knows, you might end up with a substantial credit, a kind of forced, but unwanted, savings plan for the years of estimated bills.

And yes, I guess of the strata and AGL cannot work this out, the ombudsman in your state might be a last resort.
