Big jump mate. But in saying that you’ve had a pretty good run previously.

Why the demand charge?

SEQLD.  I'm on a flat rate so the demand charge kicks in between 4-9pm and all weekend.  It's penalise high energy use between those times.

Hi - I got mine as well.  Quite a jump, but expected this in line with market.   I had thought AGL were offering us a specific EV plan but that doesn't seem to be the case?  Regardless, a good time to shop around

Yeh I thought they would have had a new EV plan in time for this expiring.  I'll definitely be looking elsewhere.

I just swapped over to OVO on their EV plan.  They have a 8c/kWh charging rate for midnight to 6am.

Yes I have switched to OVO as well, just been confirmed started from 17Jul.

If any wants a referral contact me its worth $120 pai over 12months

EV rate is .08kw between 0001 to 6am so we top up the Tesla and the powerwall and run the powerwall during peak hours

Hi everyone, I'm just catching up on this thread as I missed it earlier due to a mix of annual leave and a busy EOFY period.  Apologies for the delayed replies!

There are a couple of points here to acknowledge...

1. Energy price increases.

This has been a hot topic of late as prices are increasing across the country due to a combination of factors across wholesale prices, market conditions, network costs etc. and it is being felt by all Australians. Compounded with generally increasing cost of living this is something that we know is impacting many Australian households.

If anyone here is struggling, I'd encourage you to look at our financial support options

Or if you're more interested in understanding more about increasing energy prices, and how energy is priced generally, you can read more here

2. Demand tariffs

These are complicated Tariffs that are only available in certain distribution networks.. In a nutshell, they look at your highest peak period usage in any single 30 minute interval in your billing month, and then apply a charge based on that one 30 minute period to your entire billing month which is added to your other usage and supply charges. You can read more about it here with a case study.  If you're interested in this, I'd encourage you do do so very carefully as one slip up in usage for 30 minutes will impact your entire month's bill!

3. EV Energy Plans

I'm sorry to hear we've lost a couple of you to OVO, as we're we're right on the verge of launching a new EV energy plan, currently planned to be launched in the first week of August. It will be (eerily) similar to the OVO plan, with the same overnight off peak rate, and from what I've seen our rates outside of the 12am-6am window are lower than OVO. I couldn't say for certain that they are for every one of you as I've not checked every combination of distribution network / tariff, and OVO could change their rates between now and then, so you'd need to compare the rates for your address once our offer is live.

If you're on the fence I'd encourage you to hold out a couple of weeks so you can compare the two offers and see which is best for your situation.

We're extremely excited to be launching this plan, as it has been in the works for over a year now.  I'll be sure to post an update in here once the plan is live, and you should also receive some formal marketing material as well shortly afterwards.
